Feeler for XJ D44

Out of a stock 87, it's been in a yard so it will need new brakes, etc. I have the chance to get it this weekend but only if anyone is interested. I need an Aussie for the front so that would be $230. Located in Suffolk, VA.

dude! you have another one! where are you pulling such awesome parts?

I guess it comes from checking under every vehicle that moves or has moved to see what axles it has under it. How's your's coming along? Haven't seen a single disk ZJ since I talked to you last.

haven't had a chance to touch it yet. Took all the bearings and shims out, cleaned it up, but its sitting like that for now. I'm still looking up here for ZJ parts, but still haven't seen any. Guess people don't want to wreck ZJ's too much. Oh well, I'll get it done sooner or later. Just don't have the funds at the moment. The wife's car is being annoying as can be.

thanks man, you've got to see them sometime. keep me informed about those wheeling trips we talked about and i'll show up to one or two and show them off.

Are you doing a ZJ 35 disk swap on your 44? I might be able to get you parts from my 'yard down here in Richmond...they get a few ZJ's fairly often. I'm swapping Crown Vic discs onto my MJ44 when the time comes, and will be pulling all the parts from the 'yard. CV's everywhere down there...

PM me if you're looking for something, and I'll see if I can't help ya out.

Jeff

yeah, i'm thinking about doing the ZJ swap, but really anything would work just fine. I just don't feel like spending money to replace drum hardware when I could just as easily upgrade. What yards are you going to?

There's 2 yards down here owned by the same company. One is up in Richmond (Chesterfield Auto Parts) and the other is a bit south of the city, closer to where I live (Circl Auto Recycling). They're both u-pull yards....pay a $1 to get in and haul out what you want, fairly cheep :) They get most of their vehicles from insurance co "totals" and/or the Kidney foundation.

yeah, i know about those two. never had much luck there though. must be looking in the wrong spots.

back on subject... I may be interested in the 44... do you know what driveshaft modifications I would have to do considering I have a chrysler 8.25? Also, I am looking to sell my Conferr roofrack if you would be interested in a trade or partial trade.

YOU HAVE ANOTHER ONE JOSH!!!!!!!!!

Man I must just be slacking on my junkyarding!!!!!!

hehe... Just got all the parts to finish up the one I got from ya!!!

I swapped a 44 in place of an 8.25 and the driveshaft worked perfectly...

BUT

The 8.25 was not factory... the XJ was an 89. It had +3" approx AALs in the leafpacks.

The 44 had MORE spring perches (maybe +1" higher than factory 44 cast units) and at the same time I installed +6" leaf packs and MJ shackles.

I was able to re-use the driveshaft, and used a YJ slip-yoke for more swing before binding. Best I could tell, the yoke was sitting on the output shaft in approx the same location as before.

Also note that there may be several length factory driveshafts out there (to account for the various drivetrain combos.) I was looking at my spares the other day, and one rear shaft is a couple inches longer than the other.

hmm... ok I should be fine I'm going up about 6 inches as well... I'm assuming since the 44 was out of an XJ my SS brake lines will work. I don't think they asked what rear end I had when I ordered them from crown

is this axle still availible?
