I have had decent success at Oreilly's myself.

In the past, I had some great luck at Napa and Car Quest.

Napa and Car Quest, in general, do not have business hours that accomodate when I need to go to the auto parts store (Saturday at 9:40 pm :/ )

1st is Freeway Auto Parts Store in Mission Viejo. One great thing about them is they have a good machine shop.

2nd would be Rock Auto.

pep boys for tires. shop around first, bring them your best price, and they'll beat it by 5%. got my 35's mounted and balanced with warranty for 871 otd with an aditional $40 store credit. i buy all my new tires there.
auto parts.... napa has failed me a few times on crap parts lately. 2 bad power steering pumps. autozone.... just got a fuel pump with a bad sending unit. other than that, i've only gotten parts for tuneups and whatnot over the last few years. a couple autozone reman water pumps, one for a sbc, and one for the heep, so far so good there. i typically go to autozone by default since you get $20 credit for spending $20 or more 5 times with the rewards card. and they carry timken, which most others dont.

this is a tough one...
for me anyway, it's the people that make or break a "good parts place". super difficult to find someone at a chain parts store who actually knows anything about vehicles beyond air fresheners and wiper blades.
for people who know what they're doing, i use the carquest by my work.
if i need something weird or hard to find, the napa across town is a good choice.
having said that, my usual go-to for oil/filters, small parts, chemicals, and basic all around stuff is the autozone up the street from where i live. as unimportant as it may seem, what really keeps me going there is the "points program" thing vanimal mentioned. i buy a lot of little things for oil changes, cleaners, tune up parts, belts/hoses, etc. i rarely go until i have a list that will amount to $20(or more) so i get my points. $20 credit per $100 spent-on things i need anyway? that's a pretty sweet deal, honestly.
i have $40 credit right now, comes in handy when i need something and happen to be a bit broke at the time.
also, i've not had any worse experiences with their products than any other chain store....but i don't buy the low-level anything there, just whatever the "premium" version is.

I voted for autozone, because 9 times out of 10, when i need something, napa's closed... Which not only means i have to goto autozone, but also, i ask, wtf is with the bankers hours?

There was a kragen, now oreily IIRC near me, that has an excellant selection of prebent hoses. So if im looking for hoses, i go there obviously. Anyone who deals with enough car repairs, knows where to get what kinda parts.

I think NAPA has better quality parts than just about any auto parts store, but the hours suck.

That being said, I vote for O'Reily's I have a commercial account with them and get a damn good discount on parts from them. I also like that if they don't have it in stock, 90% of the time they can get it to the store in a few hours for me.

Ha.. my friend Zac works at Pep boys up here, and they said that the price he gave them for 33" MTR-k's was 'too low' So I guess it varies.

napa seems to be on par with everyone else as far as quality goes lately, but that wasnt always the case, they used to rock (no offense grimmy :) )
the fact that they can get most everything immediately is awesome though, i hope they continue that.
