engine swap??

i have a 86 cherokee, and i found a 1974 int. harvester ambulancefor a grand. i would like to swap over the 345 8 cyl. and dana 1-ton axles. its got the stock 4speed tranny as well. i would like some input and advice on this idea? would it work? has anyoune really done? ect. i would really like some replies, thanx guys.

I'm gonna go way out on a limb here and guess that you probably won't find anyone who has swapped that engine and drive train into an XJ. Buy, hey ... I was wrong once before.

I'm not familiar with that engine. Is it considered a big block size or a small block size? A small-block Chevy is a nice fit in an XJ engine compartment, but there's not a lot of excess space around it.

You will pay big $ for parts. You might want to stick to something a little more common. Or you can have a one of a kind XJ.

the 345 is a great motor, but what you will pay in parts for a rebuild you can get a LT1 crate motor. one thing about IH V8 is it goes over 500ci factory.

thanx guys, thats what i needed to here. i think i wil go with some not as big or expensive parts.
