I live in Pleasant Hill and am trying to diagnose a sound from front of engine. Flywheel is torqued down, I'm not sure what piston slap or rod knock sounds like. I think its the timing chain slapping the housing but would like second and third opinions. It's been doing it as long as I've had the jeep, 50k miles worth. Anybody available this weekend for me to swing my rig by so you could give me your opinion. TIA '89 XJ 200K miles 4.0 auto
 
I can listen to it for you if you would like. I work at Lehmer's Jeep in Concord. If you want, come by around 4:30 in the afternoon during the week, that's when I get off of work, and just ask for me. I work in the shop closest to Galindo St.near the big aircraft control tower looking building above all the new Jeeps.
