Easiest way to do this / value question?

Long story short, I need to get rid of my 88XJ, which may actually get the ball rolling in to getting a newer XJ and actually getting back into Jeeping.

Of parts I want to keep off of it, really the only thing is the D44 rear. Would it be best for me to swap in a D35 with 4.10s (are they still "easy" to find in junk yards?), or should I swap in a 3.55 30/35 combo?

It has a pretty significant Transmission issue (it slips into "neutral" while driving, when it's hot). It has a high idle issue, intermittently it will rev to 2k+ RPM upon starting. It has developed another starting issue where it will crank until the sun sets but not fire (also intermittent).

As far as the what's wrong with it, I am making a kind of assumption that I should either fix it all or fix none of it prior to selling it. What says NAXJA?

It is an 88, has roughly 200,000 on it, has a front Custom 4x4 bumper, a custom rear bumper w/tire carrier, rock rails, full skids, newer paint (Silverstone metallic) and some other minor upgrades.

Also, what is it worth these days? I've been out of the game for much to long.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!!!!! :patriot::greensmok

Photos are going to be a necessity when asking for an appraisal brutha.

I also suggest browsing craigslist and look at the HUGE inventory of modified XJs there are right now. You'll find youve got alot of competition out there.

Selling one with driveability issues is pretty difficult. I'd concentrate on fixing those issues as that'll help bring up the value.

Leave the D44 under it..... it adds value to your rig and theyre losing value on their own as an improvement as the years go on and the popularity of 8.8 swaps increases.

Once you sell yours, save up or commit to spending a bit more for what you want in a rig....already modified. Take advantage of someone elses investment......lots of good deals to be had out there on built XJs. Seems like $4500 can buy a very good trail rig these days.

Troy, you may even recognize the guy spotting on the second pic.

It is not much different than it was in those pics. It has front and rear TJ flares, and that's it.

I agree with you on fixing the issues, I just didn't want to hear that (thanks for not telling me what I wanted to hear lol)

Lol.... that pic is straight outta the way-back machine.......

Andrew right?

Questions:

Tire size and condition?

Roof rack still on it?

Gears/lockers?

SYE?

Is that driveway pic recent?

Pics of the interior and cargo area?

Sorry for the delay! Stupid work and life and stuff getting in my way (large part of the reason why I haven't been around much). Yep - Andrew, good memory! :)

Tires are Goodyear MTRs, but they are almost 10 years old, they still hold air just fine though! They are 33/12.50s. The roof rack is still on it, but I would probably take that off for the next Jeep....

No gears and lockers installed, I have all of the stuff to do it, never made it happen.

No SYE, I do not have pics of the interior or the cargo area, it's basically a storage area that needs to be cleaned up A LOT prior to being sold, it is very dusty/dirty. It was a decent interior when it was clean all though the headliner is sagging now.

I took these pics last week:

Thank you for all of your help and I can not WAIT to get a new XJ and get back into it!!!

Last I saw it the interior had a combination of mossy oak camo and hammered finished Rustoleum.

:pig:

LOL! Man those were the days.

I put it all to blue paint and carbon fiber shortly before I parked it.

Any other input? I am thinking of just trying to fix it when we get through winter.

Yes, fix all and keep or fix nothing and sell.

I'd say pull what you want off of it and then sell it. Trying to 'add' value by fixing it is a losing proposition. Get something newer worth sinking your money into.

Is that French Creek? If so, things have gotten a bit more interesting.
