Driveway alignment -Pitman Arm @ 90 deg. to axle= wheels straight ahead?

Trying to check toe-in after new tie rod install. If steering wheel is not centered, how do you know if wheels are pointing straight ahead? Pitman Arm at right angle to axle is a good starting place? This is with new TRE installed and toe-in or out of spec. Then do I adjust t:huhe from there or am I doing it wrong? Thanks for any input.:huh:

Sight down the vehicle from front to rear or vice versa, adjust the steering wheel until the front wheels are in line with the rear wheels.

adjust the tie rod toe in first using your eyes to make the wheels straight ahead while doing so. then if the steering wheel isnt centered, adjust the draglink accordingly.

Do your tires even need to be centered to check Toe (with the tape measure method)? If you take a tape measure to similar points between the fronts of the tires and the backs, that dimension should not change depending on which way the steering wheel is pointed...

As mentioned, after you get toe correct, you can adjust your draglink to center the steering wheel.

The tires do need to be close to straight ahead. The steering wheel doesn't matter. You fix that after the toe is correct.
