Discontinued BFG's???

I ordered a set of Four BFG 33x10.50x15 AT's from 4-Wheel Parts last week. Even though they charged my account for the order, and never told me anything about the status of the order, when I called a week later I'm told that that tire has been discontinued. When I asked how they could charge me for an item that had been discontinued...and is still listed on their web site (and many others), the sales rep actually hung up on me!!!

Has anybody else had this happen with 4-Wheel Parts, or any other retailer, regarding this tire and size recently? I was flabergasted...really. Based on the response I received, I would NOT recommend 4-Wheel Parts for anything....

Anything, and I mean ANYTHING, for offroad, you can get somewhere else for less & w/better cust. service. SERIOUSLY DOUBT BFG is discontinuing the #1 selling tire that they make. Sorry I'm not much help, but I'd call my creditcard co. & tell them. They will hook you up one way or another.

They probably stopped making the 9.50, and 10.50, because most everyone wants WWWWWWWide tires. I just got a set of 10.50 bfgs locally for the internet price. try going local, and see if they will match the price!

ugh, here goes again since i didnt realize i answered this post when it was in the wrong forum.
Most likely the tire HAS been discontinued, but only by the stock number you ordered them from. Every few years, BFG clears the stock numbers (IE gets rid of all tires). they then remake the tires under a NEW stock number. Why they do this? I don't know. Also, BFG's AT's are on back order from the warehouse. As for 4WP's screwing you, that's another story.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, buying normal stuff like tires and wheels online is a waste of money and time. Nine times out of ten you can do just as good or better locally. It is just not worth the hassle of shipping, paying to have them mounted and balanced let alone support if there is a problem. Stuff like bumpers that are custom made is a different story. For sure call your credit card company and get this resolved, from other stories I've read about 4wheel parts you could wait months till they issue a credit if you go thru them.

Not for us unlucky ones who cannot find decent tires in local stores. :)

That's odd...i have thousands of BFG AT's in my warehouse.

Also never heard of BFG/Michelin discontinuing any MSPN unless the tire was discontinued for a design change. (IE KO-KM's)

You work in the tire industry?

Sams club, BJ's Wholesale, Costo will order anything if they don't have it in stock, BJ's though tends to have a better off road type selection for some reason, at least around here.

I just got a set of 33x10.50sMTs. They are out there. I would call up 4WP and ask for the manager and come to a resolution and get your money back. Two weeks ago I had my first good customer service from 4WP. But I have walked out a few times of the local store wanting to spend a few hundred, only because the service wasnt up to par. Talk to a manager, and dont quit calling. Or the easiest thing to do is follow RichP's advice and file a claim with your card co.

Even if they agree to refund/credit your credit card check your statement for other charges like restock/handeling/processing. 4wheel parts has IMO turned into THE biggest bunch of crooks in the industry. Maybe there uppers dont know how their staff handles things but I no longer do buisness with them. The charges for handeling are unreal/ the staff for the most part dosent know shit, and they all need attitude adjustments. Isnt the pro comp line of junk theirs? last lift I bought from them for a CJ was a joke, as well as the one I put in my 85 Cherokee years ago. Rant over.

I had them tell me the BFG AT K/O's were going out of production a few months ago. Complete bull shit. I have had them order ZJ exhausts instead of XJ exhausts. Atleast that time they refunded my money for shipping. I've had them send me out with defective parts. Last week I went to buy a Viair 2.5 gallon tank and they sent me out with a quick air tank that had the incorrect size fittings on it.

The only reason I go there is because when you are in a hurry for something they sometimes have it in stock.

Other than that, buy it online or go to a local 4x4 shop. If it's a small 4x4 shop they have a way better chance of knowing what they are talking about.

The biggest reason I can see that 4WheelParts is still in business is because alot of dealerships take trucks to them to be lifted so they can sell them as dealer installed products. If a dealership drops off a truck with them and they screw up a part they can cover it up because it's still in their shop. For real off-roaders such as ourselves (the ones who wont pay $400 install fee for a lift and $800 install fee for gears) we catch them fucking up because we know what we are talking about.

Just to update the 33x10.50x15 BFG AT's. I got an e-mail from BFG this morning stating that they are, in fact still making the tires, and in that size. So, I guess I was lied to by the sales rep at 4-Wheel Parts.

Based on the other posts in this thread, I'd better keep a close eye on my account, huh? I guess it will be worth the few extra $$ to buy them locally, even if my local shop has to order them and I have to pay shipping. You guys are right....local service does count for a lot!

Bummer about all the hassles with trying to get tires. On another note...Ya been able to get out on the water lately?

Update. I finally received a satisfactory response from 4-Wheel Parts...admitting that my situation was handled in a less-than-satisfactory manner. They offered that their sales rep should have offered a substitute before just offering to cancel the order, and should have strived to achieve customer satisfaction. 4-Wheel Parts has offered a $100 gift certificate to my local club (Magic City 4-Wheelers) for use in our next meeting or raffle. I've taken them up on their offer.

I will try to find the tires locally, and if unsuccessful, will give 4-Wheel Parts another shot at filling my order. I'm sold on the BFG's for all around traction, and have been using them for years with good results. Let's hold judgement until all the cards are turned.?!

Regarding the fishing, I was on the Stillwater River last weekend...fair fishing. It's getting better as the rainbows are expected to begin their spawning run in a week or two. It's a chance to catch 20" fish in a small river on light tackle....Mmmmm.
