Who doesn't want that axle. It is a bit hard to find, but you should be able to find it your part of the country. Check out the pick n pulls for 87-89's with the tow package. The 87's primarily had them as AMC/Chrysler had a shortage of dana 35 and had to stick the dana 44 in there. It was anything but a bad thing as these axles go easily for $300+ for an original. I bought 1 out here in the Bay Area (SF) for $950 with 4.56 gears, detroit locker, new brakes, new bearing, etc. It was a bit high, but everything was done and I just had to bolt it in, I had a 29 spline 8.25 in there open with 4.56 gears, but have since been able to sell it to recoup most of my $. The 29 spline 8.25 isn't a bad axle either and you can find then for next to nothing, also the ford 8.8 is a great axle, even better than a dana 44 and super easy to find. Try to get a 95'+ with disc brakes and that alone is worth the trouble of getting it to work. Check mountainoffroad.com for the ford 8.8 kit to swap it into a cherokee/yj.
