Alright, because I'm not a paying member (as of now) you all will probably just not give a flying frizzle to what I have to say! However I just need to vent to someone and no one else seems to get it, so maybe I am the crazy one... Alright I posted up on craigslist (I use it frequently) that I wanted to trade the 5 31 BFG AT's I have, for a set of 33's...

alright here is one of my ads I posted: (this is in the item wanted section)

33'' tires (university area)
Alright, I have a set of 5 BFG all terrains 31" 10.50's and with GOOD tread left, I bought them last year and want to upgrade to 33's already and I would want to run the 10.50's not 11.50 or 12.50's....so if you have something comparable, we can trade, maybe I can give you a little cash as well if I had to. May be willing to use a 32" tire....or 34" inch tire. My tires are currently mounted on my jeep and I am driving on them daily. So if you wanted to trade, you would either have to swap out the tires for me, or just give me a day or two so I can. Those pictures were taken this January and are the most recent ones I have...please email me if you have what I want!

thanks a lot!
-Josh-

HERE IS THE SECOND AD (barter section)
33X10.50 tires (university area)
I would like a set 33" 10.50 tires, would prefer some BFG all terrains, or some sort of mud terrain is fine. I have a set of five 31" BFG all terrains to trade, with GOOD tread. I bought the tires brand new last year, but I want to upgrade, I keep hittin' crap w/ the transfer case and need to raise up the jeep. please email me if you would like more details!
thanks a lot!

Alright so after reading that, wouldn't you say those are pretty descriptive
and to the point?...Some people just don't get the picture...
(not using the real email address for these people)

RESPONSE 1:
from Mr. PeaBody:I don't have 33's,but would you consider other trades? I have 317 tuxedo t-shirts in varying sizes and colors. Deal?

Me:tires are the only thing I need.

From Mr. PeaBody:how about five 29x9.5x15 tires with good tread and i'll toss in the 317 tuxedo t shirts?

Me:I need 33 inch tires I need BIGGER tires than 31's, its not an option to go smaller

Mr. Peabody:Oh i got you. So how about this, two set of 2" budget boosts for your springs, plus the 29" tires? I could sell you the 317 tuxedo tshirts for $100. Think about it.. You could sell each shirt for $5 and make almost a grand...

Me:The logic and idea of that is fine, but not for my goal. I don't want to lift it anymore and I need bigger tires to get what I need out of it. I don't want a high center of gravity, and I already have spacers in my front, and I can get stacks of them for free if I wanted more. The 33's will bring me up the 2 inches I need, but I will still have my low center of gravity. This is why I'm sticking with this plan.

Hasn't said anything back...

RESPONSE 2:
Mr X:why are you selling this?
Me:the ad explains it pretty thoroughly.

nothing back

Response 3:
Mr D-A:How much for the 31’s?
Me:not for sale unless you have 33's to swap. This is my daily driver, so its hard to take the tires off without having some to put directly back on!

Nothing back

Now granted those are just the 3 that have been complete idiots, I have had a couple kickers that are asking legit questions.

RANT:Where the (expletive deleted) do these (expletive deleted) people come from? Do they need me to hold there (expletive deleted) hand? Can you not (expletive deleted) read? or are you just (expletive deleted) retarded. "ya I have some shirts and 29's I can trade you" Who the (expletive deleted) do you think you are? "how much for the 31's" What the (expletive deleted) are you talking about? Did I (expletive deleted) say they were FOR SALE!? NO YOU STUPID (expletive deleted). I tell you what, you can give me 300 dollars and you can have the tires as long as you let me just castrate you before you leave, then I can set my (expletive deleted) up on blocks and call it good.

I swear, its just somedays guys...somedays, it makes it hard to actually get out of bed and put myself together enough to say things with a smile.

Sorry y'all, had a bad day and needed to vent a little. Ya, I have sand in my downstairs...WHAT OF IT!?:rattle:

I love messing with people from craiglist.

It is a pita, especially if you are trying to get rid of items, or need something fast.

Try responding with something equally as stupid. Try and barter for 374 tux T's, one grape jolly rancher, a N64 game (Zelda if possible, but settle for Mario Cart or Mario Tennis), and one 9mm casing.

See if you get any response from that.

Stupid questions - just delete the email. I get that kind of crap all the time. I specify in my posts at the end very carefully that the ad says everything, if you email me a stupid question I will delete it, if you email me and they're gone I will be polite and reply and tell you this if I haven't taken the listing down yet, and if you have what I'm looking for, I'll consider it. Stupid people still reply... <delete>

On another front, I'm kinda confused why you think anyone will trade their 33s for your 31s, unless their 33s are pretty worn that's fairly rare. Usually making that kind of listing doesn't work, it only works going the other way.

EDIT: hahahaha Starboard M

Also, scrappers can be kinda a pain to work with, when I post scrap (old fenders, bumpers, gas tanks, etc) I get a dozen emails or so, half of them completely unintelligible and the other half asking me to call THEM for pickup. HELLO?! I posted this so YOU could find out how to get here and pick it up, not so I could call around and find someone to pick it up! You're getting it for free! Buzz off unless you can just show up and take it! The guys who ask if it's still there are good too, my usual response is "well I dunno, I stuck it on the curb where I said I did last night, in front of my apartment, I listed it, it was still there this morning, now I'm at work and have been for six hours, why don't you swing by on your way to another pickup and see?"

Now I have one guy who claims he'll be there within 20 minutes whenever I call, and he wasn't crazy and didn't seem dangerous, so I'll probably just call him from now on when I want to get rid of scrap.

Am I the only guy who thinks that if you're not ready to make the deal as soon as the money/trade shows up, that you shouldn't be posting an ad? I mean really, how many complete strangers are going to give you 5 good BFGs in 33x10.50, then wait a few days for you to get yours dismounted, theirs mounted, and then show back up with your old tires? If there's any sort of "it'll just take a few days to disassemble/get the paperwork/wait til my bro comes back home/find the keys" nonsense, I just forget it and look for another seller. I guess I'm not terribly patient about buying/trading unless it's someone I know.

also another good point..

Dont ever take a check
dont ever buy a car with no title
dont ever Believe another persons word..

Those are my 3 key points for shopping on craigslist.

^ Xamillion. Cash talks, BS walks.

I have way better luck getting rid of crap I don't want at cut-rate prices than getting a fair trade, also. Expect that on craigslist. Luckily, I only post on craigslist if I'm looking to offload something...

Speaking of which, if you try to buy axles off CL, inspect them CAREFULLY. I was going to pick up a d30 with 4.10:1s in it on Christmas Eve, drove an hour out of my way to meet the guy. He was fine with me pulling the cover (if the seller isn't, WALK AWAY! Gear lube and RTV are cheap, there is no real reason for them to not be OK with you pulling the cover) so I did. There was some really wacky stuff going on, the pinion bearings had a TON of slop and the backlash was at least .050" or more, maybe even .1". I didn't even know anything about setting up gears and it felt way wrong to me. The carrier (actually a locker) was OK, but the shims seemed to have been installed outside the carrier bearings... no idea how or why, and they were hanging out. He was asking $250 and used the normal "bought it from my bro who got it from some dude who had no idea what it was who bought it from his cousin who is in jail now" excuse for why he had no idea what was going on with it. I passed on that purchase...

I have 112 "we're #1" foam hands I'll trade you for your tires. I can also include $4.33.
Let me know.

Include money orders in that, for us Northern people "Canadian money orders" is a common scam.

Well guys I have gotten use to this sort of shit for the most part. As for trading my 31's for 33's I figure maybe someone out there might actually do it, and w/ enough emailing and chatting back and forth may trust me enough, I do seem to win people over pretty easily. I have seen crazier things happen. I'm not in any hurry, I just have no money to buy tires, so I would need to trade, maybe some cash for some bigger ones...Its not a big deal or hurry for that matter. As for giving me time to do it, I can't do it at work, but my former place of employment allows me to use there tire machine if I ask. This deal really isn't that uncommon and crazy as it seems.

perfect example, I sold some NASCAR sheetmetal from craigslist, some guy wanted to send me a money order, I said to just send cash...3 days later I got 100 bucks in my pocket, and the guy isn't even coming to get the damn thing until Saturday! BTW, to anyone thinks that's retarded or whatever...I brought the money to a bank teller to deposit it and apparently she at least thought it was real money and its now in my account.

I do have blue but I will only accept 35's for them.

Put two ads on Craigslist, selling a 89 Plymouth Voyager and 95 Ford Windstar.

Received 132 replies--all spam obviously generated by bots.

Still have both vans.

What the heck is NASCAR sheet metal and why would I pay you $100 cash for it?

hahaha, well all the wrecked cars or trucks we have, we take the sides and crap off of it and throw it out...I dig it out of the dumpster and sell it...down here people pay actual money for that garbage.

tacky steakhouses and local joints in that area like to hang the hoods, trunk lids and fenders up in the restaurant. Especially if they are sponsors.
