Country Edition Pin Striping

Hey guys,

I recently traded in my tired, abused 88 laredo and got a 97 country. it's dark blue and looks pretty clean. I don't care for the "snowflake" wheels and the silver pin striping, so thought I'd attempt to peel off the pin striping, like on my 88 laredo. I found out that both front fenders wold be very easy to feel off, but all 4 doors and the rear quarter panels almost don't seem to be a sticker. The edges of the pin striping are somewhat rounded that resembles paint and I can't feel any edge to the sticker. I think it may have several layers of wax over the top. Any suggestions on how I can remove these stripes? I've heard of using a blow dryer to heat them up, but if they are under a few layers of wax...? Thanks in advance (dumb question, I know).

Most auto parts stores have a rubber wheel that you put in a drill and it removes the sticker, stripe what ever and doesnt hurt the paint.

Use some bug and tar solvent or wax remover and see if you get any closer to the stripes. It is possible that your XJ has had some paint and body work and the stripes have clearcoat paint over them. Park it in direct sunlight and maybe try the hair dryer and see if you can peel some stripe off. Use some sort of plastic scraper or an old credit card and give it a go. Be carefull and check that you are not damaging the paint below or around the stripe. Paint and bodywork supply stores have some stronger solvents used to remove decals and stripes.
