Coil-over Shocks

I worry when rattles stop

I'm trying to do some research for my Mini-Baja team instead of my XJ for a change and I thought I'd ask everyone here for some help. I am trying to find some different coil-over shocks other than FOX and KING to run on our vehicle. We could get away with an ATV front shock but we are a little short on $$ so I was wondering if anyone knew of some good quality shocks, preferable with 5/8" shaft, dual coil capabilities, and adjustable damping that might be somewhat affordable ($250-300 ea). If not, does anyone have recommendations for more expensive shocks, pros, cons, etc.

Thanks for your input.

you can get sway a ways for $200 each, dual rate kits are $70 each, and springs are $50 each.

I was on Utah State's mini baja team 2 years ago (9th overall that year) and we used coilover rear mountain bike shocks. They only had 2.5 inchs of travel but with their very high spring rates and damping all you have to do is figure out the mounting locations and we still got 9" of travel at the wheel. The best part was that they only weighed 24 oz. each as compared to the 20-30 lbs a king or fox shock weighs. They were the way to go to get smooth action without too much weight because weight is what kills you when your limmited to a 10 hp briggs engine.

by the way we only spent $3000 total on our car, so it sure doesn't take a lot of money and high dollar parts to build a top 10 car.
