Anybody ever replace a clockspring for the airbag in a WJ? My wife's 99 needs one, and they are asking $600 to replace it. What little I've read, it doesn't look all that dificult, and the part is only around $50.

Fred,
It shouldn't be more difficult than an XJ, just different. Pull the plastics, remove the airbag, pull the steering wheel, swap out clock springs, reverse.

Took me about 2hrs on my XJ, including time to stop and take photos.

Hey XJEEPER! What concerns should I have with disconecting the air bag. Is there any magic to it. I ordered in a clock spring a while back but have been waiting for warmer weather to put it in. I need to do something with the heater mix door and thought I would do the both at the same time.

Can you post the pics?

Chilton's just says to disconnect the negative battery post for a minimum of two minutes, better for 10 to allow the capacitor to discharge. Obviously, don't let the negative lead connect to the battery terminal by accident.

I think I'm going to farm it out, I break plastic dash pieces most of the time. :)
