Cleghorn - Pilot Rock - Deep Creek Run

Anybody up for doing a little non-web wheeling this Saturday? I'm going to run this stretch, Cajon Pass to Green Valley to get an idea for time. Depending on time, I may even get through Holcomb creek. Ultimately I'm going to get a Cleghorn to Seven Oaks or Thurman Flats course charted. With Thurman flats being about 1.5 miles east of the Yucaipa ranger station it figures to be ~ 14 hours all strung together. The idea will be to limit pavement driving to 5 - 7 miles total.
The last time I ran Cleghorn I flopped the XJ, time before that Premium Boy broke a track bar mount on Pilot Rock and Deep Creek sent me back the way I came in. It's time for a grudge match. This will not be an official naxja run.

Post up if you are interested or want more info.

Apparently, I need to clarify something here. I don't really see what the problem is, it was all so clear in my head .

THIS SATURDAY IS NOT THE 14 HOUR TREK.

Saturday will take about 5 or 6 hours.

Meeting time and location,

When: 9:30 AM Saturday,June 10, 2006

Where: I-15, Cleghorn road exit, east side of freeway.
This is the exit directly south of hwy. 138 at Cajon Junction.

I might want to go, How long is this trip I might bring some people with in my xj. How hard (easy) would it be.

6" lift 33's locked.

mgt,
Deep Creek is rated as a black diamond with some rocky areas with one very nice climb. However, I've seen a gal run it in a stock XJ. Any thing under 3" of lift on 30" tires and you may want rocker protection. I have run the entire route we/ 4.5" lift, 31" BFG ATs and open/open. Cleghorn is 99% dirt with plenty of bypasses. It is also a VERY flexi trail. A stiff suspension w/out lockers would present a real challenge, but as I mentioned there are plenty of bypasses. Pilot rock is a milder version of Cleghorn but still has some challenging options.
We will also be going through the Pinnacles when we go from Pilot Rock to Deep creek. Once again, this area is mostly dirt with some interesting areas.
It may be a little late in the season, the Pinnacles has some incredible wild flowers, lots of Lupines.
I'm not sure what the milgage works out to, time wise I expect it to take ~five hours to finish through Deep Creek. So far it's IMORTAL (Ken) and I, we'd like to see you there too.

John, John, John.

Unless your so sorry that you don't make an excuse to run either Hells Revenge or Moab Rim.

If you don't, and don't post the proof pics, missing out is the least of your worries. :D

they might be afraid of scratching their keyboards...

I'm running 3" lift, 31s, 30/35 open-open. Am I going to be able to make this all the way through? No body armor, either.

I highly recommend at least rock rails and a gas tank skid. As for being open/open, it may take some work but you should get through.

Do you have tow points front AND rear? if not, I would not even try it...

Just my $.02...

I went all over the place with my 3", 31's, open/open BUT I do have armor and tow points.

Well, I have a "desert" skid plate bolted onto the front, and a tow hitch in the rear. The previous owner was a glamis junky. The reciever worked quite well at towing that Chevy 2500 HD out of the river last weekend. As far as gas tank skid, I have the stock one.
