Second best would be to flush the oil drain back areas with copious amounts of mineral spirits. Once you get the debris flushed to the pan, remove the pan to clean by hand.

If the head is still off, you could turn the crank enough to get each piston down the hole enough to wipe up the debris with a clean, oily rag.

After all that, you will have to pre-lube the engine before start up, and hope for the best.

The Scotch Brite Bristle Disc finger pads what ever you want to call them, just wipe the surfaces down and go about life. Personally I use only a gasket scraper, brake cleaner, and a vacuum cleaner. But I've known folks who work on German cars professionally for decades and they all use the bristle disc roloc. Now they're not using it to take a whole head gasket off, but for the final pass that takes a lot longer if you're only using a scraper or razor blade. No problems and the customers keep coming back. Unless the jeeps are somehow different just go about life and change the oil a few times...
