because the classified frequently involve large items such as body parts and drivetrain, often shipping doesn't make sense. if possible, it would be nice to have the option to sort by distance. this way we can rule out items that aren'et cost effective to ship. (it is cheaper for me to drive 200 miles south to the bay area than to have a transfer case shipped from the east coast, for example)

It also doesnt take that much extra time to ask where someone is from, and that will also save our VOLUNTEERS from doing extra work.

That version of the software does not have that feature. Sorry.

It is a big step forward that is does have a zip code/milegae calculator... perhaps that sort feature may be in a future release.

Just the ability to put in a ZIP code and figure out where they are is a HUGE step forward - we didn't even have that before, and half of the people here don't seem to want to put where they are in an open forum (Hell, the fact that I live in San Jose is a matter of public record - but SJ is pretty big, and I still keep control over who knows my addy.

I'm happy to be able to see what's going on - and a lot of people with disagreeably large items tend to post them in chapter fora, so you've at least got an idea. So, we're making progress - and we're farther ahead than we were with the last revision.

Yup. Good suggestion. Has been asked for before. Unfortunately just not in the features yet. Hopefully it will be in the next go around. Would be handy.
