I guess I'm getting old. We've been looking at mini-vans. With a 90lb Black Lab, a 3 year old and another on the way, we need a van. The Jimmy is just getting too tight of a fit. We drove a Chevy Uplander today and the wyfe is sold on it. It has the 3.5L in it. Anyone else have one? If so, had any problems? Do you like it so far?

Im sorry to not answer your question, but that is the ugliest peice of trash GM has produced since the Aztek. There are very few GM cars that I ahve seen make it without a sackload of problems. and to top it all off, i just dont like the way they are put togeter, drive, look, function, etc. Im gonna get flamed, but get a Sienna. just my .02

Go fullsize and get a real van, after reading about all the people that have sludging issues with the Sienna/Camry motors that Toyota refuses to do anything about and that after SAE changed their standards for rating advertised factory HP and the '06 Camry lost 20hp, kinda makes me not trust Toyota much.

chrysler. My dad's had two of them, they both still run great. He's got like 150K on a 93. It has had the trans replaced. THat's about the only problem. If you don't plan on keeping it past 100K don't worry about it.

To me the Tahoe is screwing around, you get more vehicle for less cash with a Chevy Express passenger van, if you get the 1500 it has AWD available, and the 3500 has standard stability control (for those who drive the church bus too fast with no experience I guess.)

Yeah but 'van' screams 'homo'.

If you're serious about the Uplander...I'd do some research to see if they're building it out of the same parts bin as the Venture.

My neighbor just traded in his 2000 Venture, and was quite pleased with himself for laying down the extra cash for the extended warranty. In the 6 years he owned it, it had 3 new transmissions, 2 other times they tore the tranny apart to replace parts.

General Motors has been paying out too much in union driven outrageous pensions and Health care to worry about spending money on a quality product.
Ain't unions the shiznit for customers?

If you really want a minivan, I think the best one is the Nissan.

Toyota Sienna takes a close second.

Run from the Toyota. My experience with them was sheer hell! I also have a couple of friends who have newer Toyotas and they have had a bunch of problems as well. Pre '97s are great. After that they suck. Over-priced and expensive to own.

Funny. I own one and have not had a days problems in 100,000 miles other then normal tune up stuff.

I love it when one person has a friend who has a problem and thinks they are crap because of it. But you can look at the sheer numbers, Consumer reports, or anywhere else and it totally blows what you say right out of the water.

Read my post. I had one. It was a piece of sh#$! I also have friends that have them and they are also pieces of SH#$! They have the same problem I did. So much money in it that they can't get out of it.

The cost of ownership was rediculous. Consumer reports can go to hell! They apparently never drove one for long. If you like being screwed by the dealership everytime you do anything by-all-means buy one! That is my experience. I am sure others have good ones. I will never buy another one and would never recommend one.
