Central New York??

You have some places to go wheelin out there?? I am sure a couple of guys would be willing to travel to wheel some place new. Keep us posted.

Ohh yeah there are places my buddy and his dad own the land the Jeep Jamboree is held on if you guys wanna run that, they can get the trail ready to run. They got over 2500 acres let me know a good date on a weekend and i'll plan ahead with them.

For all you mud lovers they got a hole that it took a bulldozer, log skidder woulnd't touch it, to pull a front and rear locked Scrambler outta that had 36 inch swampers....it's nasty big

This sounds interesting. Which Jambo are we talking about? Would these folks charge us for the use of the place, or just let us use it 'cause we're such great folks? :D

yeah it sure does sound like a good place to hit... i'm done "wheeling" for this season though... (really over did it this year and Moab just topped it off..) plenty of time to plan ahead for the spring though..
mike

No, they would not charge. I know this for sure, these guys are in it for the enjoyment of it. Let me know who's up for wheeling and maybe a thanksgiving trip, depends on numbers... It's in Martinsburg, NY about an hour from Syracuse, NY so it's pretty centered inNY

Well, I just moved to Ithaca, NY -- so I'm in Central NY, but haven't learned about or found any places to go wheeling yet. Been busy with non-Jeep related things (buying a house, job, etc.) but if you come across an oppurtunity or two, let me know. -SNB

Things for me may be busy between now and the end of the year, but the NAC is always interested in different places to wheel. We cover a large territory, and finding wheeling venues for our members in all corners of the chapter region has been a struggle. Therefore, any additional places that offer a variety of terrain are VERY welcome news.

How would that area be for winter wheeling? Maybe a chapter event sometime after the first of the year is in order. What's nearby in the way of camping, motels, and places to buy food and/or eat?

Eagle, winter wheeling is outta the question. This area of NY can get 3 foot of snow in one night. Basically there is way to much snow to even think about getting a truck down a trail. It's one of the largest snowmobile spots in NY, the tug hill plateau that is. Camping and places to stay, I can get the info from the Jeep Jamboree information, as its held in same place. What I can do is grab all this info how long trails are...the variety, mud hills water etc... and send it to you sometime on here and maybe next spring or early summer we can try to organize a run up here along with a couple other clubs. I know the trails are large enough to accomodate 130 jeeps or other 4x4 at once. Just get back to me let me know if it's a good idea.

Thank,
Sean

Yeah, of course it's a good idea. (What a silly question.)

dang this was a while ago but I live in Oneida, NY. That would be a nice spot to play! What does the tug hill area offer for legal wheeling on state land? Anything? I've been meaning to find out about this. Thanks.

I live specifically in Rodman,NY south of Watertown by like 2 minutes.

Yes,

I am officially back from the dead, am selling the SWB YJ for another XJ, the XJ is where it's at, got the mack daddy wheelbase from the git go, so much more versatile for weather conditions and is overall a very underrated wheeler.

I also just got back from my AFROTC training camp down at lovely Tyndall AFB, in Panama City, Florida. 28 days of straight hell, no breaks, no weekends off or anything. Ok you'll can stop feeling sorry for me now, got to see some cool stuff such as the new F22's in person, tour some Weapons development group hangars and what not though. anywho, go back up to college tomorrow and I can start tearing my jeeps apart again. :).

Hit me back I'm gonna be hammering the Adirondaks hard tomorromow night and into Sunday.

Dig it

any of you NY guys interested in venturing into mass?? the mohawk madness is centered less than 30 mins from the VT/MA/NY corner... i hope to venture into NY next year to see what you guys have to offer out there too....

Money is a problem right now,

I gonna sell the YJ for 1000, I just put new fenders on it, frame is solid. Paitned it ford blue, soft top half doors. You guys think I can get 1000 for it?

89 with half doors and soft top

I live in Cortland, work in Ithaca. Only places I know of are some state land roads in Truxton, Scott, and Virgil, and some good power line trails in Virgil around Greek Peak. I would love to find some new trails to do some mild wheeling with the family...

Looks like an old thread that got brought back, I'm from syracuse, and know of a lot of places around here, and in the dacks. I'll be posting in may when most of the trails open. I've been to the martinsburg trials, there pretty nasty, er at least the ones that I hit. lots of fun. There's quite a few 4x4 trails a little north of utica as well.
