I heard a good explaination of charity, and justice, and social justice today.

I forgot who the preacher was, but the essense was this:

*Charity must be a person freely giving of their wealth to another person or organization. Charity, when forced by the government is not Charity, but redistibution of wealth.

*Justice is making sure that everyone has the same opportunity to achieve as the next fellow.

*Social Justice is neither Charity, or Justice. You can not claim Charity when you forcably take from your neighbors pocket to fund your Charity. It is not Just to take from a person because they are successful and give that wealth to the poor. If it was anyone else but the Government, this would be considered robbery.

I wish I could find a link to the sermon, it was very thought provoking.

Was it by any chance Mike Kessler from Twin Falls, Idaho? He's been getting rather political on the air lately. I'm not certain how much politicing a pastor really should do from the pulpit as it gets dangerously close (and definitely over) to speaking evil of dignitaries. The Bible warns against that. And yes, I'm well aware I've done it myself, but then I'm not a pastor. ;)
