Gonna put a angle across it.....right?

Rev

I'd hope so. Not to burst your bubble, but that's not a very well planned out cage. Hope you're still working on it,and that's not the finished product.

i have extra steel. where do i need the angle? once i fix the sun roof i plan on having a bar go in between the D and P, then angle it in. the skeleton was bought, everything else i put in. if u have any more thoughts for my cage, let me know. cuz when i roll i wanna be ok.
:peace:

Here are my thoughts:

I'm guess you don't have a tubing bender, because everything that I'm guessing you put in is all straight. I think you can work around that, but you'd be better off borrowing one or convincing someone to help you.

I would ditch everything you have added between the B and C pillar. If you think you are going to use a harness at all, then you'll need the bar behind the seats to be much higher. Having the belts go over your shoulders and then straight down to a point in the middle of your back is a no-no.

The diagonal parts that you added from the C pillar to the B pillar really should go down to the feet and not the center of the tube. I'm sure it will be fine like that, but it isn't ideal. And the shorter diagonals that you added from the B pillar to the other diagonals aren't doing much of anything. If the cage were to fold towards the back, it will push the B pillar and short diagonals right into the middle of the longer diagonals, which is the worst possible place.

I hate to tell you to cut all of that out, but you really should.

The stuff between the C pillar and the D pillar looks good. Make sure you add a dash bar at the A pillar....and another similar piece at the roof line....I couldn't tell if that was already there or not.

thanks for the advice, but im not gonna cut anything out. i guess ill just add angles where i need them. i didnt want to block much of my viewing pace as possible. near the back i plan on mounting my spare tire.

I figured you would mount your spare tire in the back....and like I said, that area looks good.

Are you not going to use a seatbelt harness? If you are, what are you going to do about that?

Adding more tubing to the section between the B and C pillar won't make it right....it may make it stronger, but it'll look worse. I really think you should redo it the right way now.

That bar right between the front seats will limit your view more than you think. Instead of _|_ go with |\/| or |/\| it will be stronger and give you a better view.

I'd do the same with the C pillar bars. Triangulation. Triangulation Triangulation......

im thinkin of putting a bar on each side from the back of the passengers door to the front, and then connect a bar from side to side, which will be higher for the 5 point harness. the reason why i made the mid the way it is was so i could still recline the seats.

For me, being able to recline the seats (to a point) is a safety item as well. If I had to leave my seat more upright, my head would touch the ceiling. This would not be good in a roll, and it is too close for my liking already...

If I couldn't recline them, I'd need to position the whole seat to allow for room.

Have you considerd surgery to remove some bone from your femurs? If you were 2" shorter I think that'd make a huge differnce. Probably be alot more comfy too.:dunno: Might check into it.

I see your point.:D

that's why i layed my b-pillar back at an angle, so my seats could be relined enough for me to fit in the jeep
