After spending a few weeks screwing around on the smog dyno at work I finally got my NOX down..way down.. for the full ASM diag test on our smog dyno. nox down to 7ppm during our testing..averages for complete test 230ppm.. way below the 1015/875 max. tested in 1st for 15mph and 2nd for 25mph around 2400rpm. I figured it would be a good time to head off to the test only.
WRONG. My first mistake was going to a new test only place. My 2nd mistake was telling the guy to test in 1st and 2nd and that we got the nox way down.
I sat in the empty waiting room and listened to my jeep run the 15mph test at about 2400 rpm..shift into 2nd and rev to about 4500rpm followed by the dyno shutting down ( test abort) and then followed by the tech telling me that he could not run the test in 2nd cause the rpm are too high....no sh#t so was the mph. right then I knew I was screwed.
He said he had to run the test in 1st and 3rd.
I passed at the 15mph @2453rpm 645ppm nox
I failed at the 25mph @1585rpm 1448 nox
The tech explained to me that anyone can get good numbers during the asm test because you just hit print when the numbers are good...I know he is full of crap because My print out is for the entire run at 15/25 mph and was good for the whole test.
My ASM test shows the numbers as averages for the full run
hc ppm 19...nox ppm 230...co .03%...co2 15.3%...o2 .1%
I'd like to see the numbers for failed and passed nox with the rpm at both 15 and 25 mph for some 4.0 H.O. jeeps
this is a 5sd 410s and 33s.
