c-101 connector confusion!

sorry if this sounds moronic, but can someone please clear up for me the location and function of this much maligned connector?

i think it may be playing games with my '89 and i want to get to the bottom of it.

The C101 disappeared mid-89, so you may not have it.

It is located high on the firewall, above the power brake booster. If you have it, there is a rectangular metal shelf extending out about 1-1/2" from the firewall with a big plastic wire connector attached to it (I think by pop rivets). The main engine room wiring harness runs into it.

nope, just ran outside and it looks like i don't have one.

is there something that replaced it? if so, is it worth pursuing?

The C-101 was simply eliminated and there is no longer a wiring break at that place in the harness.

What replaced it is a one-piece harness that is not prone to corrosion and vibration-induced problems. This is one Chrysler "improvement" that probably really was an improvement. Don't pursue it, just say "Thank you" to the Jeep gods tomorrow.
