I rigged a cone k&n filter and want to know what to do with the breather tube off the valve cover. Anybody use a push in breather filter?

i extended the hose and let it dangle with a breather off the side of the motor. it just hangs there and vents away...driping black shi* all over the place...its not that bad though.

I also drilled the new air tube and mounted any air/emmissions line fittings to the new tube. I don't know if remounting them helps in any way though.

The rubber on my breather tube is worn out. Would it be cheaper to buy a push in breather filter, then replacing the tube?? And where would I get a push in breather filter?? Thanks.

some time back , i found that the elbow fitting is not available unless oyu buy the entire vacuum line assembly... at least that was for my '88. from the dealer.

The tree huggers love this kind of ammo...

That tube emits enormous amounts of “black shi*” as it was so eloquently put by jjvande. If you put a breather on the valve cover it will just get soaked and spew all over the top of your engine. Try and route it back into the intake so the emissions can be burned in the combustion chamber and keep the tree huggers off our backs. My elbow was shot too. I just used some black RTV to secure it to the valve cover. No leaks in over a year and even passed smog.

yea, i was thinking it might not be to good to let it just drip, but compared to my rear main...its nothing.

Another positive for attaching it to the new intake is that if you angle it right, the oil will keep your K&N nice and wet...better filtration:roflmao:

maby i should build a little container to catch the condensed fluid.

could you just plug the hole and let the PCV suck out the vapor? The jeep has 186K on it, so there's a lot of blow by,.

That breather is almost identical to the one I used on mine. Puked oil all over the engine. All the filter does is condense the vaporized oil in the blow by and allow it to run down all over the engine. Plugging the breather hole only lasts a little while. You start spewing oil out of the dipstick hole and then a seal gives way. Mine was the rear main. After all of that I have found that a little catch can works great. You can fashion one from PVC from your local hardware store.
