Bilstein 7100/Fox 2.0 for 4.5-5" lift

I'm trying to setup a SA that lift my rig about 4.5-5".

I know from several pages that the Bilstein 5100 that match this lift are:

Model: Collapsed/Extended
24-185943 17/28.5
33-151663 16/26

I've found that Fox 2.0 has the following:

Model Collapsed/Extended
98224920 15.42/25.95
98224961 15.80/26.20

But Bilstein 7100 just have this size:

AK7110S04 10" 16.1/25.77

The next model have a travel of 12" and 19.53/ 31.1 collapsed/extended.

I was thinking in Fox 2.0 or Bilstein 7100 because it'd possible to rebuild them. It has sense to put this kind of shocks or go by the 5100?
How I can match the size, do I need shocks adapters or something else?

2.0 and 7100's you will need the upper shock adapters(in the front).. 5100's i think you don't, rebuildable is nice but it also depense on how long you are keep the rig and how you wheel it. Both fox and bilsteins you can't go wrong with.

The only true correct way to get the right shocks is to install the lift, then measure for the size you need.

Keep in mind no matter what the shock if you revalue or rebuild the shocks (fairly straight forward process on the Fox 2.0s) you will need a source of Nitrogen.

This is true but generally speaking 10 ines of travel is good for 4.5 inches of lift or you can change your lower shock mount and bumpstup accordingly and run a 12 inch travel with will get you a little more droop.

In the rear I was thinking in put the JKS adjustable cross-over mount:

The problem I guess is in the front. The difference if of 2-3 inches:

shorter 7100 (26) < Bilstein 5100 (28) < larger 7100 (31)

The Bilstein 5100 have the mount points designed for Cherokee. The others I guess I will need some convertors.

I bought the 12" travel shortbodies with remote reservoirs for the front of my XJ with ~5-5.5" of lift. Had to get adapters for the top and made new mounts for the bottom on the side of the LCA bracket.

Thanks, I will see the size of them. I wanted the ones without reservoir (cheaper). I'd like the rebuild option but in my case it's a 'nice to have' feature. Maybe I finish choosing the 5100 and avoid problems.

I have a 8.5" BDS Long Arm on my '90 XJ and they seem to work very well.

BDS # for Fox 2.0 Performance Series Shock
98224965 Front
98224974 Rear

The new Fox performance series shocks are a step up from the Bilsteins I think.

the crossover mount is nice but the straighter the shock the more of it's potential is being used.

What I have found is that Bilstein hasn't 7100 without reservoir in about 28/16 (extended/collapsed) size.

Fox has this:

Jeep Cherokee XJ 4WD 2001-1984 Front 5-6" 980-24-644

and for the rear says "coming soon"

For TJ in that size they offer the same shocks that the XJ in the front. So I guess this could be fine for the XJ:

Jeep Wrangler TJ / LJ 4WD 2006-1997 Rear 4-6" 980-24-645

Extended/collapsed: 24.925 15.725

I'd have to use some kind of eliminator in the rear.
