Bent Front control arm bracket..replacement part?

More times than I care to count I have bent the front lower control arm bracket on my Dana 30. It is now to the point that if I didn't have adjustable control arms and the ability to rotate my control arm end I would not be able to mount it.

I have welded "mini skid plates" on the brackets that has helped but have continued to bend them none the less.

My question is does anyone sell a bracket that will allow me to mount my control arm higher up, behind the axel(since I will be mounting a new bracket anyway), or do I need to fab something up?

I expect I could go buy another bracket at the dealer but why create the same problem I have now.

Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Keith, I know it's not what you're asking for, but Rusty and RE both make heavy duty brackets and they're fairly reasonably priced. I would go with the RE version because Rusty's uses a cam bolt from TJs that is $$ and unneccesary in my opinion. HTH

I am about to make my own out of 3x3" square tubing @ 3/16" because mine are trashed. They have gussets and supports everywhere because they have been bent back so many times. Anyhow, Goatman posted on here awhile back about using the 3x3 tube. The inside diameter is perfect so all you have to do is cut one side off, cut the contour of the axle and weld them on. Oh, and drill a bolt hole for the arm too. I believe VegasAnthony started that thread, maybe you could search it out.

No expirience here, but something to think about

I thought I read somewhere that if you raise the lower control arm mounts you also have to rais the upper control arm mounts or it will cause weird ride handling charactaristics (sp?) I think there has been a post about this on the board. But I can't find it.

PS, I am going to get in contact with you about the R12 but have been busy.
