Ok so a while back I swapped the serpentine belt on the 2001xj. No problems then a few weeks later it starts to squeal when on the gas a bit and the power was going dead temp was spiking and stuff. Was told just to tighten the tension an the bolt to the pulley. I did so and that solved the problem a few more weeks down the road (tonight) it starts to do it again. I pull over still having the socket and wrench with me just pulled over and with not even a quarter of a turn SNAP! Goes the bolt. WTF????? Well I fill down behind and the bolt snapped off about the block that it goes into the back of the pulley block. The other part is still there. Get back in start it up and no squealing, so I go straight to the parts store to get a new bolt for that. The guy looks and looks and we can’t find it in the system at all. Got the pulley but that’s it. Even looked at the bracket that the pulley and PS pump bolt to and still nothing.
One does anyone have the part # for that or have an extra one.

Two how do I get that out? I can’t really see back behind it so I grabbed the camera and took a pic, but that looks like crap. I got my hand back there and can feel the lower part is for sure still on there. Going to have to take off the air intake system to see better later on.

Put a new belt on so I don’t have problems and now all I have is problems one after another.

no problems during the summer then when it's cold out and sucks to work on stuff I have problems

Do you mean the tension adjuster bolt? Might have to j/y it.

It sucks nutz when it works like out like that. I hate wrenching in the cold too.

I've got several laying around here.

PM sent.

'Tis the season. I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop with my junk. :D

Man, if it's the tensioner bolt, good luck. I had to get one from Milwaukee. apparently, there wasn't a single one available for sale, in all of Canada. Should have just made my own or something.

Man I miss the old setup of just loosening the PS pump or alternator to take that tension off to put on a new belt. Even the guy at the dealership was like this is a much better way of doing it. Well out of all the cars in my life that I have done this to this is the only one that’s ever gave me any problems.

well both holes are fairly close to each other and if you are a sick sob they can be used at the same time.

So I'm guessing I'd have to order this via a Jeep parts service place. It started to act up again. I pulled the cold air intake setup to get a better look at it this morning. Ya this morning right after I had to JUMP START it. So my dogs head must keep pushing up on the dome light and in the day time I can see that it's on. So after getting the jeep started this morning at 6 am I pull out and it starts doing the belt squeal thing again. I pulled the CAI setup and took a pic but left the camera at home on the counter. Looks like the block that the pully attatches too is a bit crooked and I think thats why the bolt snapped. I'm thinking this one is my fault for not loosening the pully bolt more so that the tension bolt/rod can make it slide down further. Just a guess at this point. Soooooo I pulled it back into the garage and drove in my other xj.
