BARNEY RILEY TRAIL CLEANUP DAY!
----There is gonna be a Forest service supported Cleanup day at the Hot springs on the Barney Riley trail on Sat JULY 25th. Looking for a few more people to clean up trash around the camp area and Hot Springs area. Here is a link to the area http://4x4trailmaps.com/4x4Trails.php?Trail_ID=76
----I was talking to old Buddy Mark who now has a XJ, coming from a old land cruiser for years. I was in Fiddle footed 4 wheeler club back in 1995-2000 with Him. The 4x4 Club no longer exist, but Barney Riley trail was the clubs adopt-a-trail. I Helped planted 500 trees 18 years ago across river from main Hot Springs. I have not been back since, but now I have my XJ and looking forward to helping out again.
---I know there was a recent thread about the area around these Hot springs and the ones around Markleeville. So Please let me know if any one is interested To Help out and keep this area clean! SAT July 25th.. Barney Riley Trail

Sounds like a nice thing to do and I like to get out around my birthday!

I'll put it on the books. Any idea who currently has adopted the trail? Our chapter has had interest in this in the past. Just couldn't find an orphan trail

I could be in for this.

Spoke with Mark this morning, and he says himself and the few remaining members have been doing the adopt-a-trail. They cordinate stuff thru the forest service out of the reno office. Sounds like they would be willing to pass the torch to a bigger group to keep up with trail maintenance and such.
So if naxja got a decent turn out I think it could be discussed if thats something the Sierra Chapter would want to do..

I might be into this . Never been there.

We could maybe run SR friday or sunday?

Trail Clean-Up CANCELLED by Forest service. Too many fire crew still in area cleaning up "washington fire".
Loope canyon road off monitor pass is closed as well, which leads to trailhead.
I will keep people updated for a future date on a clean-up run.
