back spacing for 37x12.5

I'm at 5.5" of lift, and asking for opinions on backspacing. I'm cutting to fit them, don't tell me they won't fit and I need more lift, I will find that out on my own later on and lift accordingly.

I'm using 33's with 3.75 bs now and I get rub on the inner fender wells pretty easily. I'm looking to space them out of the way of the inside so I can have a full turning radius at full stuff. I'm not gonna try to stuff them inside the fender b/c it's not going to happen. What would be too much? 4WPW has some 2.75" BSing wheels, that sounds like it's what I want, but it seems ridiculous at the same time...so what would YOU do.....other than add more lift. _nicko_

They are not going to fit, you need more lift :D

The less backspacing you have, the more leverage you are placing on your wheel bearings and ball joints. If you still have the D30, with 2.75" BS, and 37s, you are going to eat ball joints one after another. The 2.75" BS will only push your tires out by 1". Will 1" make that much difference, I doubt it. Once you go to the larger tires, you are increasing your tire's radius by 2". That 1" of additional backspacing isn't going to give you enough to clear them. To push your tires out far enough, and hold up to the 37s, go full width D44 (plus more lift).

If not, you'd probably need the 2.75" bs wheels, and some 3" wheel spacers.

I'm running....(actually I'm "jackstanding") a 5" backspacing on fullwidth....

my outside trackwidth is around 79-80"......

I think you should at this point, be concentrating on dialing in the trackwdith you wanna run....everything else is secondary (IMHO)

cut like hell if you need to.....

I knew I was gonna get crap about the d30 ball joints. I've definitely thought about that. I didn't even mean to get the 3.75" BS for my 33's, the shop f'ed up my order when I ordered 4.75, and I didn't notice until later when I had to use my spare. I may just swap rims and buy more 4.75" BS for my 33's and I should be set, better than the set up I have now.

I definitely wanted a new front axle before I got larger tires, but I can't pass up the price I'm getting these for and I'm not just going to let them sit around. I will add 1" to 1.5" of lift at max to fit these, otherwise, they are sitting in my shed until I have money to get new axles.

haha, I guess some -.25 BS wheels would be perfect for me.

Ya, I'll be running a 64" front D44 with 3.75" BS to fit my 35" MTRs. Don't feel too bad about letting some tires sit. I got my MTRs back in November, still sitting. I've got some forged Alcoas (MTs) too. Got $1400 in tires and wheels (I got 5 of everything) just sitting there collecting dust. Sucks, but still in the realm of reality.

Jump on the tires if they are a great price, then build your Jeep around them.

I love talking to Mark Seidman (lawn cher') he's jsut got such a level head about things, and always make me think logically about building my Jeep.

The tires are a deal, but not sure if it's enough of a deal to build my jeep around them. I am more than likely going to pass on the 37's and stick with m 33" AT's. Then I can concentrate on fabbing my Jeep up with a much needed cage, more protection, and maybe even a new front and rear suspension. Now that I think about it, that's a better decision than building around my tires. After that, I'll look at making my jeep on the cutting edge of "BIG". haha, sorry for relieving my thoughts onto you guys. :D _nicko_

wheel backspacing

I am wondering how far the 3.75" bs put the wheel out from the fender. I am assuming that you are running a 12.50 tire. What are the problems that you dislike with the bs? The only thing holding me up from ordering my rims and tires is the question of bs. I was contemplating 3.75" bs or maybe 3.5" with an 8" rim, just to set the tires out and get a good wide stance. Any suggestions????
