axle code

A friend of mine recently bought an 83 Mustang Boss GT and we can't quite figure out the axle code. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks

Is that the only tag on it? there should have been another tag on it that said something like **** 8.8 3L55 or **** 7.5 3 55.

No that's the only tag. We are told that it is a positrac but that's all we know

Pop the cover on it and look for tooth count stamps or any other identifying info. He bought it used, it's due for a gear lube change just to make sure anyways.
