AWESOME dirt buggy video

not at all. that is just his brother driving the first time so he was a bit aprehensive. It really smokes (the tires literally) and plus he was driving in a small area so whenever you see him turn around its because he would be driving off a cliff so he can only floor it so much. A new video is already in the makings, this was just a teaser.

Looks more like the buggy is tail-heavy, pushing the front in the turns.....not really balanced. Hope the next vid has some airtime to show off the long legs.

Are you willing to devolge some info on parts used? I've got an old air cooled 250R motor begging to get put into something & a 12 year old son. I was looking into building something similar, but my first thought was to buy an old quad & use the rear swing arm & front suspension for a small buggy build. What motor & transaxle setup are you guys using?

Definitely, in fact multiple angles will be used for the jump shot. Believe me it will be sweet. As far as the balance issue, he's putting more air in the front shocks today to push it up more. Alot of the weight is in the back yes (driver, motor) but when you jump it you don't want to nose dive too much. BTW its super stable b/c the legs are as wide as a normal car.

All parts are top secret :D. JK. Check out this post for descriptions on parts and buildup

Yes, we're in Tucson. His shop is in his garage on the South side but he is building a megasuper shop on the Northeast side right now (close to Reddington). He also sells some cool stuff like high misalignment spacers and Tube adapters for cheaper than anywhere else.

I agree, No air time, no sale. and as Xjeeper mentioned, not balanced, that thing would be scary to really take off road..

It's a comet drive/driven CVT system like on snowmobiles, always in the higher rpm ranges but a very broad range of gear ratios available... high rmps + 2 stoke= lots o' fun

It should be just over 400 lbs when finished (with tires and wheels)

But later in the thread when he said he finished it, it was just over 600 pounds.

From building it from scratch with no instructions thats a pretty good estimate. Plus he decided to street legalize it so he added more components.

Its a blast to drive and when you hit rocks and bumps that suspension just absorbs it all. Drives smoother than some of the nicest cars I've been in.

I bet it's awesome. Wasn't trying to diss it, just stating that it seems to be closer to 600 pounds now.

Street legal off-road buggy. Hmm. Might end up being cheaper than trying to turn my Jeep into a rig, lol.

Hey, if you guys need another XJ to experiment with...I've got a near stock one with loads of potential. So if you ever need something a little less built up to work with let me know, I'm in Tucson also.
