Anyone got a room to rent near Pomona?

I'm transferring to Cal Poly Pomona for the Spring quarter. School starts April Fool's Day, so I need to move sometime in March. If anyone has an open room they are interested in renting, or know of someone who does, I would really appreciate it.

I'm 23, transferring there into the Civil Engineering major. I am laid back, non smoker, I seldom (rarely) drink, I don't really party at all, too busy w/ school and work. I am clean, responsible, and pay my bills on time. I don't need a lot of storage space, just enough space for my few tools I own and some rubbermaid tubs, probably my MTB too.

I am probably going to be spending 90% of my time at either school or work so I probably won't be there often. From the way it looks, the curriculum there is pretty intense, so i will have to be on top of the schoolwork constantly.

Anyone got anything?

Hey dustin,

I actually graduated from there over the summer, I had a room at the apartment village, part of campus. pretty nice and decent price. If you haven't done so, I would check them out. goodluck.

I checked it out, but i really don't want to live in apartments. The storage there is nonexistent also, so that won't work. I may have to fall back on that though. what floor plan/option did you have? Did you have to buy a meal plan? Do they sort the roommates out by age/year or whatever? I really don't want to live with a bunch of 17/18 y.o. kids that just got out of h.s.

I had the phase 2, 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, each person in their own room. In that phase, each apartment has their own "storage", big enough for your tools and a bike. I actually never used it, but I know my roommates had a couple of bikes and stuff in there, and you also get a pretty big closet where you could store some more stuff.

I made all of my own food, so i didn't need a meal plan, and there are a couple big cities right next to pomona with plenty of restaurants if thats your thing (covina, diamond bar etc). i know during the beginning of the year, they can sort each apartment out in terms of how the roomates will get along, cleanliness, noise level etc. but in the middle of a year, not sure how it will work, you can put in a request for quite roomates, but it might be full and you wont get to pick.

One year I also had the newest phase 3, really nice interms of school housing, everything is brand new, but you dont have the storage space. The rooms are a little bigger as well as new appliances etc makes it nicer. But also more expensive.

but its always good to leave it as an option incase you dont find what youre looking for. I would recommend the phase 2, less expensive.

My dad has a room for rent in Fullerton. 20 minutes away and against the grain of traffic. He wheels, has space for stuff, and is pretty reasonable all around.

PM me if you'd be interested in checking it out.

Thanks. I'll keep it in mind. Did they split people up in any certain way, or were you just placed in any available room?

Cal, you got mail.

ya they put you in apartments based on your living criteria that you selected. for example: clean, semi quite, occasional drink, organized, not a late sleeper etc. and based on that, they'll match you with other roommates. But before you take the room, check it out, see what the roommates are like, and then make your decision. good luck bro.

Plus you'll have Cal to work on your XJ every weekend.
