got a amp second hand from a fellow jeeper and the install is giving me problems. i have all the wires ran and such but everytime i go to put the fuse in the power wire it pops it. i've tried as many different combos of wires hooked and unhooked but everytime it pops the second i put it in. what the heck is going on?

If you have all wires, except power, disconnected, and are using the correct value fuse and it still blows -- it may be that there's something wrong with the amp.

Are any of your speaker wires touching? And the biggest thing is any of the positive cable touching the outside of the amp? I worked in a stereo shop in highschool. let me know if any of that fixes it

all the wires are good. the guy i bought it from bought it from another guy and he had never hooked it up, but he said he would give my money back so no worry.

and i just realized i am posting on a friends name but oh well, this is ramsey.

If you drilled through the firewall thats a common grounding point where it will cut. Unplug everything from the amp, and put a volt meter to the amp end of the power wire. Use the black wire on the volt meter to ground that out, and put the red on the amp wire (maybe that overkill, u probubly know that). Have a friend put a fuse in and watch the meter. If the fuse pops your wire is grounding out somewhere, if it dosent pop and the volt meter says 12V your wire is ok, and the problem is in the amp or your ground is bad.

One time I got ahead of myself and spent 2 days trying to figure out why I was blowing fuses right away. Come to find out I had power and ground swapped on the amp. I felt like an idiot for blowing $20 worth of fuses.
