I think the best advice I can give you after being in the BOD the last three years is to start getting donations and vendor support NOW! Come February and end of march their pocket books seem to dry up and they go into survive the year mode. I also noticed that every other club starts asking about this time a year and once they hit the limit they are done. Talk up their products and give reasons why they would be a good sponsor and how you are going to support their product. Also once they commit you have to stay in contact with them almost every week until the product arrives otherwise it usually does not show up.

Just thought I would share what I learned.

P.S. Always do the opposite of what the puppet master suggests. Just kiddin Ryan. (I think)..

thanks, i already started with some vendors back in dec. they are "new" vendors for us too, as for the usual vendors, non have been contacted as of yet, but will be very soon

I'll throw my .02 in as far as vendors too.

If they are local, don't make them any promises about becoming a national vendor.

The national sponsorship program is in shambles as I'm sure you will find out when you scan through the BOD forum. Hell you don't even need to do that. There have been several threads in the Member's forum as well.

There have been a few local bridges burned because of this. To this day Tom Woods won't even talk to me and I think it's because he equates me to the national side of the sponsorship program and that just sucks.

It might be good to get in contact with him. Maybe a fresh face will be a better thing. Just keep it local.

As far as anything else goes. Don't be afraid to ask me, Steve, Dave, Jeff Turner or anyone else who has been here and tried to do that.

i'm actually pretty good friends with tom so maybe that might help the situation

what local vendors support us still? out of curiosity

Tom worked really well with me but I scratched his back in putting together a national membership list and he returned the favor. He just needs to be shown that he is involved. Derek I have a list of people who have helped is in the past with names and contact information and what they have donated in past events that I can put together for you. Seems the best sponsors are getting farther and farther away. Trasharoo. Adventure trailers. Overland Journal. American snorkel. I will put that on my to do list.

Very awesome supporter. From the cruiser world but one of the nice guys. Derek I don't know if you know him his business is Cruiser Outfitters and he runs Expedition Utah. And Medicare denied my phone call for the rascal. Maybe we can have a Naxja party to build me a ramp up my front steps so I can stop doing stairs.

These are all the people that I contacted when National dropped the ball and didn't do anything two years ago. Some of these are probably on Nationals do not contact list so you will have to sort through them to see who you can call.

thanks, i've been searching but must have missed it, where is nationals list?

If they are a national vendor...don't call them. You should have access to the vendors forum now that you are a big shot. If not tell them you want access. You can see who is on the list there.
