My folks are considering selling an extra car they have since my sister will have the jeep. I just dont know much about used car market. If it were jeep I would be fine, but as its a car I dunno so much so maybe some of you flippers can help out.

Here is the basic info.
2003 hyundai elantra. 4 door sedan. auto.
has about 95k. (most were commuter miles when folks lived in virginia and dad worked at pentagon. Otherwise its just commuter car to DIA when they fly out anywhere.)
any service done i believe they have documentation for, including timing belt, water pump and some other seals. (tires and service almost all done at one shop here in springs.)
Has newer tires.
IMMACULATE condition.
Has one quarter sized ding in one fender, and front bumper has a scratch. No stains, rips or tears inside. non smokers. ETC.
Aftermarket CD player.

No issues with it, cant think of anything it needs. I say list it at full book due to condition, one owner, documentation of maintenance, and people are looking for good gas milage clean cars. They dont need to sell, would just sit if they dont.
Any of ya think full book would be too high to move? (4600 is excellent condition book.) they thought it was a lot less and know they will get talked down a little.

TIA

Sorry, My advice:

Find your bottom price.. Be reasonable.. Just because Market is $4600, Does not mean YOU feel its worth $4600.. Figure out the special number by searching ads around you, and stick to your guns.. You will always get talked down, It's the name of the game.. But you have to be cautious of a buyers tactics.. DONT EVER discuss price over the phone.. If they can knock you down a few bills out of the gate, Be preparred for Incredibly low offers in person

Be blunt in the ad! When i'm browsing craigslist, I tend to look for people i feel i can really sucker down.. (dont hate the player..) you obviously are not desperate to sell, so make that very apparent.. IF you dont, prepare yourself for people showing up with half your asking price, after a 45minute test drive they throw it in your face expecting you to cave in.. and in the end, They wasted Both party's time..

It sounds like the car is close to immaculate, so this part is not really necessary for you, but Clean the car! a pop can and a Cigarette box next to each other in the back seat really turn me off.. Take the time to clean everything from the dash, to the windows, seats, steering wheel.. etc etc Really detail the crap out of it.. 3 hours and $20 later can be the difference between a $1000 car and a $2000 car..

Point out things like Condition of brakes, A/C.. Tires.. when the last time the oil was changed.. And try to avoid talking about repairs.. The bigger the list of repairs a vehicle has, the more i'm turned off.. Sorry, People dont just randomly replace a bunch of stuff unless the vehicle has been a headache..

my $0.02

Ya. Im not new to selling cars. just curious how the local guys feel the market is. i haven't sold one in a while. I've already analyzed other cars and seen where they are out and how many there were. Just know a few guys here are pretty up and up on the current local market and might have some things im missing.
thanks tho.

Should be able to sell it at or around book based on the description.

People love sub $5k cars
Hyundai has a great track record atm
It is a sedan with good fuel economy

best way is to take bb into account, but also look for real world prices by searching craigslist for similar year range vehicles (think comps, like buying/selling a house), there will be a wide range on there, and if yours is on the higher end of condition, you should put it on the higher range of whats on craigslist currently.

You dont want to have it priced considerably higher than the others on craigslist or nobody will email you.

comps that i found:
http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/3196968950.html
http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/3263426214.html
http://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/3276580451.html

based on those, $4600 seems a bit high, but you can always stick it on there for a week or two and see what happens its not that high and you may get some emails about it, realistically you will probably get closer to $4000-4200

Yep, basically detail the car and look to see what's already out there. Price yours accordingly and set a bottom price for yourself that you won't go under. Selling a car is no different than selling a Jeep.

Oh, and 1,600$. :D
