Adjustable track bar on stock suspension

Gerr

NAXJA Forum User
I have a 93 sport with 4.0 5 speed, stock suspension and all the basic gear that goes with it

Ive had a problem with the track bar lately and have had 2 stock ones break the upper joint, I have been looking to find a adjustable I can put in its place that either has a rebuildable or replacable upper joint but all the ones Ive found only work with lifted XJ's. Does anyone know of someone that offers one that i can use or should I look into modifying a stock one?

I will be lifting it 3 inches and it will be seeing regular hard trail use but not till the beginning of the year.

I did a search and found nothing I felt answered my question

I know on my 89 that the RE HD mount and bracket would not work at stock hight. The HD mount would hit the diff cover untill I put in more bumpstop on a 3" lift

At 4.5 now with 3 hockey pucks and all is good.

Some companies, I think RRO is one of them, make adj. trac bars that are either for 0-3" lift or 4-6" lift.

A 0-3" lift t-bar would probably work fine. Or if all else fails, buy one and but a little off it and re-tap the tube deeper.

I have a spare adjustable track-bar i may be willing to part with. Let me know if you want a picture or any info.

problem with tapping the RRO unit and most all other adjustable trackbar's that use TRE's

I just went through this when i did my d44 swap and used JKS's Over Axle bracket for the frame end.

this axle bracket necisitates the need for a shorter trackbar, so i took the chopsaw to the RRO trackbar and cut it off...

the RRO trackbar TRE is an 11/16" x 18

the standard fine thread 11/16" is 16 threads per inch and the 11/16"x16 tap costs about $25

the 11/16" x 18 tap costs about $100 and is much harder to find...

that and the RRO trackbar has an ID that is too small to tap directly and must be drilled to 5/8" before tapping which cant be done on any lathe that i could get my hands on because of the bends... - i had to do some tricky stuff with a clamp and a drill press to get it to work...

here is a thread about some more of my exploits with the RRO bar...
