ive come to the conclusion that the only place ill be happy with my spare tire is in on a rear tire carrier. in the past, i had a C4x4 tire carrier. but the problem i had was that the tire was too low. whenever in a steep situation, the tire would drag, and i was always afraid of plowing it through my hatch glass coming down in reverse. now that im on larger tires, the problem would only be worse.
i dont mind losing a little rear view, but i am hoping not to take up the entire rear glass with my spare. so... IDEALLY... im looking to build something that i can position low for street use, but locate higher come wheeling time. id like it to be relatively easy to relocate, at the most with the help of a buddy, but i dont want it to rattle either.
ive thought of a few designs, but nothing that satisfies both of my requirements. has anyone built something like this?
