hey guys,

i've read on a fellow :NAXJA: er's page that rear discs from a ford crown vic are a good swap for d35s, d44s. well i got the brackets from the junkyard ($25!) and will have the rotors, pads, calipers in about a week.

my question is regarding the bearing/seal/flange on the axle shaft. this is a d44 and i'm wondering if anyone can describe to me the issue w/ the flanges. supposedly you can use the retainer from a rubi d44 and it makes up for the extra thickness of the rotor. is this correct? my shafts need new bearings etc. so this would be a good time to do it.

if there's anything else i'm missing i'd appreciate a quick description or pics.

thanks a lot in advance,
dan f.

That is based with ZJ brackets. You have to take your own measurements and have a spacer made to make up the difference

oh i reaaly hope not.

supposedly they are the same, except that you don't need to enlarge the hole that the bearing assembly goes through which i guess you have to do with zj's?

thanks rcp phx,

keep em comin' guys,'

I don't know about crown vic. I do know that the rubi works with ZJ. I just did this the other day and worked great. Never heard about the crown vic though.

Good luck,
Curt

If its anything, I found out that 95ZJ rear calipers interchange with my 97 exploder 8.8 calipers..... They are Identical!

Mopar PN# 1-05083678AA preclude the need to have spacers machined (and they're only about $3 a piece- you'll need 2 :D )

They are not an exact fit for the XJ D44 axle. You will either need to oval out an axle flange hole, or oval out a hole on the bracket and retainer. You have to remember the XJ d44 is different then the rubi and tj and zj d44.
