A few questions???

Ok I am new at the XJ thing. I have a FSJ and this one is for the girlfriend and actually I kind of like it. I got a 1985 XJ with the ole trusty 2.8 V6. I have read the archives about the tranny and stuff but there isn't much info on the ones with the V6. What tranny and transfer case do I have? How about what Diff's? I think it is the NP228 cause it is the Selec-Trac. I understand that the V6's are junk? I guess the best thing to do is gonna be to swap in a 4.0?
