well after dealing with a failed A/C system on our GMC dually, i decided to purchase my own vacuum pump. i decided on the mastercool mas-90065. local A/C service shop wanted to replace my entire system for over $1200. ya right. i bought a new compressor, accumulator, and orifice tube, and all the oil, flush fluid, and refrigerant. flushing the system and reinstalling it all now. i will have to wait till next week for the vacuum pump to arrive. i will let you all know how well it works then. the digital manifold/gauge has a micron reading and leak test after the vacuum process is complete. that will tell me how well the pump worked. if i find it in my budget (need to sell some stuff) i will invest in a good micron gauge that will tell me what the pump is pulling throughout the process.

all this because of a bad o-ring on the low side pressure switch which cause the refrigerant and oil to leak out. compressor decided to lock up with no oil in it. imagine that.

Twenty five years ago I purchased a used portable compressor and reverse the ports. For $35 plus a $20 rebuild kit; it was money well spent....
Looks as though you purchased a quality vacuum pump....

After the repairs if the system can be pulled down to 500 microns or below and hold; you are good....
