My 89 4.0l A/C compressor seized up after making some rattling noises along the way. All was fine until I didn't drive it for a few weeks, then the noise came and about 30 minutes of run time later it froze.
Certain systems, like late model Fords IIRC, require all sorts of flushing and even a condenser replacement when the compressor goes. How have folks successfully handled the older XJs? I'm hoping a rebuilt compressor and an accumulator is all I'll need.
Has anyone done this and had a failure soon after? Probably contamination?
Oh, and any other advice on what to worry about or gotchas?
Thanks much.
