98 Grand Cherokee question

I have a customer asking me questions about his 98 Grand Cherokee I couldn't answer. So #1. Is a Durango steering gear box an upgrade like it is for our XJ's? #2. Is a direct bolt in? #3 what year Durango should he be looking for?

Yes, Yes, not sure. I have one in my ZJ, didn't notice a huge difference, but it is a a little easier to turn the tires when I'm stopped. IIRC it's 3 turns lock to lock instead of 2.5, and I think mine is from a 98 Durango.

I had one from a 99 in my zj. Hated it. Lost a Good amount of critical turning radius. It DID turn smoother but I couldn't handle the trade off.

A zj box is also an upgrade for an xj. So I am content with running my zj box.

depends on the year and if you modify it to get the full 3.4 turns. some years do not have the internal stops, most do. you can remove them, do a search.
