97+ Door Quick Disco

Okay... I've been around long enough to know to use the search function... BUT 3 days of searching has still left me with questions. Basically i'm takin the doors off my 98 xj. I read the write up and it said he used hitch pins to replace the center hinge pin. At the end he goes on to say he ended up with little door slop. I remember reading a thread, that I can't find anymore, where he had a 97+ jeep and had no door slop after removing the door. I guessing this has something todo with what you use as a new hing pin. Just wondering what you guys have used as a new hing pin and if you have noticed any door slop or alignment problems afterwards. I've got and idea in mind but I dont know what they are called. I would have just unbolted the doors but I wanted something that wouldnt mess with the door alignment and i wanted a sorta "quick disconnect". Thanks again...

my 97 has the old style hinges so i cut the bottom arm off the hinges on both sides. on the passenger side its attached to the bottom part of the hinge so i pressed it out and welded it on the other end so it looks like the drivers side. i ground down the ends of the pins to make them round so they would slide in better. i have zero door slop. it is a PITA to line them back up the first time though. it takes a little trial and error. after that, tighten them up and youre good to go. lift off, lift on.
