My 1997 hasn't seen much rain in the last few years...until now.
Had it parked facing uphill and found the passenger footwell filled with water after an overnight rain.
Spent a couple hours searching and found the HVAC's plastic intake, under the cowl, was leaking.
Found a few photos of similar XJs and use them to determine where to cut the sheet metal.
There is a shield above the intake that needs to be removed for sealing all four sides of the intake.
After cutting the opening with a Dremel, a RV rubber roof adhesive/sealant was used to reseal the intake.
