97-01 K&N cold Air Kit for sale

I have a K&N cold air kit, catalog number 57-1518, for sale that fits 97-01 Cherokees with the 4.0 engine. It was just cleaned an oiled with about 100 miles on it since cleaning. It also come with a custom homemade aluminum shield that completely covers the bottom of the filter to keep out mud and debris. Asking $80.00. Thanks.

My smog guy told me if your vehicle is '95 or older you can have a custom made air intake and it will pass smog as long as it has the vacuum ports and stuff that was there stock.

More and more of the XJ owners are receiving the requirement of a Smog check at a STAR certified station. The Gold Shield changed to STAR in Jan 2013.
Your vehicle is supposed to be randomly chosen, but mine has been chosen the past 3 times.
Any modifications (CAI, cat conv, or header) that you do to the emissions will need a OE sticker.
When I went in for my Smog check; the STAR station tech asked me where the OE sticker was for the K&N CAI even though it was right next to the other two stickers.
All gas powered vehicles after 1975 require SMOG checks and OE stickers for emissions component modifications....

There is a CARB sticker located on the shield that is supposed to block heat. It reads CARB D-269-18 and is the original K&N sticker.

I think you mean E.O. (Executive Order). Most smog places will ask for paperwork with the CARB EO for anything aftermarket. They prefer it to be stamped or a placard welded but stickers or a letter should satisfy most techs. HTH.
