I removed the caliper/rotor, hub retaining bolts and cannot seem to pull it. IS it c-cliped to the diff?? Am i missing something or do i need to apply more force? I already had the wheel back on for extra leverage but no go. Any tips?
use an old 12pt. 13mm. use that on the bolts and beat the shiat out of it!
You will trash the socket but now you have a hub removal tool, took me two days and an 8# RBFH.
Good Luck,
Harlee
One of the best writeups out there I've seen is http://stu-offroad.com/axle/d30/axle-1.htm - Stu's site is chock full of great tips; they're written for his TJ but many of them apply to the XJ as well.
Thanks for the info. Soaked with penatrating oil overnight and went back with a bigger hammer. Used the bolts half threaded and an old socket and wailed on it. The guy in the above write up says "gently tap" HA! Ordered the harbor freight ball joint press (after local parts stores telling me to take it to a machine shop??). Any good tips on this? How about getting the split washer out of the lower ball joint hole? Thanks
