'87 MJ

My son found himself an '87 MJ a couple of days ago. I'll be picking it up today for him. I did not have a chance to really check it out to see what condition it is in, but I did see it sitting in the guys front yard. I do know it is a black 2WD, with an automatic transmission (shifter is on the column?). Aaron said it is stock, street driven only, and has the 4.0. The body has a little rust but not terribly bad, and is a long bed. He test drove it, said it starts and runs great, but the rear brakes are not well.

We will be looking for an axle and transfer case to convert it over to 4WD in the near future.

Aarons says, "Now I can join !" ... of course, when he turns 18 this summer.

I have a Dana 30 sitting in my driveway. Free, Free. Also a Dana 35 out of a Cherokee. Its also Free, Free. I'm converting mine to 4WD too. I changed plans, so I'll be going with a Dana 44 with passenger side drop. The Free is if you pick it up. I also have a Peugeot tranny if anyone needs one. Again Free if you pick it up.

Aaron will get home a little later this evening ... he has an FFA competition tonight. He will sure be happy to see this thread.

Adam - We were not that lucky to get a D44 ... it has the D35.

Mark - Yep, we will need a transfer case. Not sure which tranny it has in it. Spring over is the plan ... which coils did you swap in?

Tonight, I unloaded it from the trailer and pulled the cap off. That was the first thing Aaron wanted off there. It also has running boards that will soon bite the big one! :laugh3:

And, yep ... we now have two caps that will be available. We'll post pics of them when we get pics of the MJ.

I think it's pretty neat how everyone steps up and says "I have this, if you need it" type thing. Thats what the MWC is all about. Sounds like Aaron has everything he needs already and he dosn't even know it. Thats just how it should be.

Hello all, this is Aaron. (Les's son) I really appreciate all the comments. I'm really chompin at the bit to get this MJ 4 wheel drive, lifted, and ready for the trail. Hopefully I can get rid of my SWB sooner than later and start on the ol' comanche soon.
