8.8, 33s, and wheel spacer q.

So I'm trying to get an idea of trac width and hope someone can lend some input here.
I have an 8.8 somewhat ready to go into my 01. I just got in a set of 1.5" wheel spacers to make up for the narrower width of the 8.8. I'm running factory wheels (15x7) and very narrow 33x9.50x15 BFG ATs. The question is do I "need" wheel spacers up front as well? These wheels were free so I'll run them until I get to where I am ready to really buy what I want but will it all work ok for the short term?

i run without rear spacers. aka the rear is narrower than the front BUT why the heck would you need front spacers with 33x9.5's?

if you make the rear wider it will match the front

I have an 8.8 and dont run spacers everything is fine. My front axle has lock out conversion so it is actualy wider than a stock Dana 30. I did not buy spacers and am saving money for the C Clip eliminiator kit with cromo shafts. Once the C Clip eliminator is installed the rear will be the same width will almost be the same as the front.

I guess my question is two parts. I know the front is almost always wider than the rear on vehicles. It was my understanding that the 8.8 is a couple inches narrower than the axle that is in it now (Chryco 8.25). I just didn't want to have the difference be to much front to rear compared to how the factory does it.
Plus, since I'm running the skinny 33s on narrow, factory off set wheels, I wasn't sure if I'd be all in the control arms or not up front.?.
Thanks for the feed back guys...I guess I'll just start and see what things look like. :)

You will want to check your back spacing, if I run a stock wheel on my 8.8 with any tire bigger than a 30 the tire will rub on the leafs

Good advice. I think once I get the thing slung under the heep I will test fit the wheel/tire without the spacer. If I need them, at least I have them already. :) Just not sure if I'll need them for the front too... We shall see. :)

the 8.8 is 5/8 narrower per side than a d35. when i put my 8.8 in, my rear width is narrower than the front. if you run spacers than the rear will be wider than the front. the only way to even them out is with the c clip elim kit. unless you find spacers that match. i havent found any.

I run 1.5" spacers on the rear of my 98' 5.9L ZJ with a 8.8 and 35x12.50x15 on XJ Ecco rims. Less then a 3/4" between the tires and the coils still.
You should be fine without spacers with that narrow 9.5" tire even with the heavily back spaced stock rims.

You dont even really notice to width difference with a 8.8. I only ran spacers when my 33 12.5 15s rubbed the leaf with stock rims.

I have an 8.8 in the back of my rig now. Factory Ecco wheels 15x7 with 31 10.5s no spacers. It's really close but doesn't touch. In the front they barely touch my factory skid and re lowers on drop brackets.

I would expect that the fronts will deffinately rub a bit on a stock dana30 With 33.9.5s but it won't be horrendous. With a lockout convertion I'm sure you'll be fine all around. Throw them on and see what happens.
