So I am currently in the process of riggin up my '96 XJ which I had as a first truck and JUST got it back from my dad as my little brother got himself a new car.

Right now I am startin off with the staple 3" lift. bought an OME w/ Rancho shocks off someone on this board.

Off craigslist I got myself a set of 31x11.5 superswamper TSL's in brand new shape...but unfortunately they came on Toyo 6 bolt rims...

so i got a set of rockcrawler rims off someone on the jeepforum board...

Here is my problem
captain numbnuts lists them and sells them as 15x10" rims.
I get them and they are 11" wide.

Are there any serious drawbacks to this?
Am I gonna be riskin poppin a bead all the time?

i'm not an expert by any means, so this is just my experience.
I've got 9.5" wide TSL's on an 8" rim and it's fine. I ran tham at 15 PSI no problems, and te sidewalls didn't even flex that much, next run I'm probably going to run 12.
Mine are bias ply though, so the sidewalls are super stiff.

I would run a 8" wheel. It's going to come right off the wheel when you air down! Also, what's your backspacing...that's gonna be tricky.

I wouldn't consider a 10" wide wheel until you're running 15"+ wide tires. Even so, I know people who run 35x15r15 boggers on 15x8 wheels.

You typically want your wheels to be about 4" narrower than your tires. I ran 31x10.5's on a 15x10 for a very brief period on my pickup until I got some 15x8 wheels, and it was a *HUGE* difference.

I'd be afraid to try 32x11.5's on a 15x11.. and would never attempt to air down. Resell the wheels to someone that doesnt know any better and get yourself some 15x7 or 15x8 wheels.

well it seems i was misinformed by my housemate who was the one that measured them when he checked them as he had volunteered to drop them off at the gas station for me.

The rims are 10 inches wide. He measured from the outside of the rim rather than inside the lip of the rim.
I am assuming on a 10 inch rim I will be safe for a 11.5 inch wide tire.

The suggested rim width from the manufacturer is 9.

Am I wrong in thinking now that the rim is a decent fit for the tire?

It would work, its not what I would call good. You want ~8 inches wide for an 11-12 inch wide tire.

Agreed, it would work, but it's far from ideal, IMO.

A friend of mine used to have BFG AT 31x10.5R15s on some nice shiny 15x10 aluminum wheels on his toyota pickup. IMO, it looked retarded! After the tread pattern that contacted the road, the tires bulged out on either side. If he were to even hit a curb, he woudl damage the nice shiny wheels and potentially F up the tire's bead. I never measured, but I'm pretty sure that when you run 31x10.5 on a 10" wide wheel, it's not going to be as tall as if it were on an 8 or 7" wheel.

Then you're going to run into issues with too much torque on the bearings, the backspacing, and rubbing on the control arms and hitting fender flares too quickly when stuffing.

I can't think of anything positive to say about running a 31 on a 10" wide wheel. I'd cut your losses and try to sell them to someone who wants to run 15" wide boggers and buy yourself some 8" wide wheels. Hell, I'd run those 31x11.5r15s on stock 7" wide wheels before even thinking about the 10" wide ones!!
