My jeep uses a .840 Input shaft in the Transfercase..

I had a second Transfercase laying around.. From a 95 XJ.. It has the .750 Input shaft..

Normally, This would be an easy deal, just swap Inputs.. The problem is, I didnt realize the difference until the day after i put the 2low and SYE in the XJ Case..

So the difference is less then 1/10th of an inch.. and the seal seems to ride about 3/10ths Of an inch from the top on the .840 input shaft..

Should i quit worrying and just run it? Someone advised i seal the T-case too the trans for extra peace of mind:wierd:

I'm getting ready to do the exact same thing in my 96 ZJ. Writeups on NAGCA and JF say you can get away with it, just RTV the trans/t'case mounting area and keep an eye on fluid after going in deep water.

shouldn't be a problem as long as you put enough rtv to seal the drip hole at the bottom of the tcase to trans mounting surface that is supposed to let you know when the seal between the two goes bad.
