2.5L XJ with Auto ?

Anyone have an auto tranny behind thier 2.5L ?

If so what kind is it ?

I drove one for a year back in '99 (I think) as a test and it wouldn't even get out of it's own way. What a dog. If you have one or are looking for one it must be an older one cuz Chrysler didn't make many when this testing basically failed.

The older ones are Chrysler 904s. Don't know if that's true for the recent models or if they started using something else during the late 90s.

I've got a 94 5-speed. And the clutch get pretty hot on steep hills, while your wheelin'. I need to find an auto to make it a little smoother on the trail.
