Anyone know the model number of the radio with cassette for a 1987 Wagoneer XJ Limited?

My 1987 XJ Laredo had an AM / FM Stereo cassette deck. The radio was designed and manufactured by American Motors, with model number 8956001910. The radio is very easy to remove, and as I recall, the model number was on a tag. Are you looking for the service manual? The one I have covers this model number and model numbers 8956002148 and 8956002197. What is your problem?

Thanks! I'm keeping a list of suggested model numbers. My Wagoneer XJ came with an AM/FM only and I want to replace it with a AM/FM/Cassette.

None of the old ones will be in working order IMHO. I have two (or three, maybe four) that have electronics problems internally, and the cassette players never lasted more that 3-4 years in cars before they began cannibalizing (eating) the tapes. I finally upgraded my 87 and 89 to a newer radio player with the USB and or acc plugs and bought an MP3 player. I finally retired my cassette tapes last year.

I have not looked at the 87 Cherokee I bought this summer yet.

No one is going to have an OEM new one for sale. And a few years latter they changed the radio box size!!!!!! So the newer ones don't fit. I bought a 96 off Ebay once and learned that unpleasant lesson.

I do know they were all the same (accept maybe for options?) between 1985 and 1989.
